Description
Sherell Ford is a retired American professional basketball player born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
A 6'7" forward from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ford was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1st round of the 1995 NBA Draft, going on to play in one NBA season, with the team who selected him. In his NBA career, Ford played in 28 games and scored a total of 90 points.
While at Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois, Ford was teammate of fellow NBA players Michael Finley and Donnie Boyce.
In 2006, the American Basketball Association, in an effort to draw interest from potential fans, invited Ford, along with other popular Chicago area college and high school stars, to try out for its 2006 team. Thomas Hamilton, Rico Hill, Ronnie Fields, Kiwane Garris, Imari Sawyer, Kevin Turner, Tom Kleinschmidt, Najeeb Echols, Evan Eschmeyer, T.J. Lux and Jerry Gee were also recruited to training camp for the upstart Chicago Rockstars. Despite the marketing, the franchise has since folded.
