Description
Fredrick William Strickland, Jr. is a former American football linebacker who played for twelve seasons in the National Football League from 1988 to 1999. He played college football at Purdue University where he was a 3-year starter and a member of the 1984 Peach Bowl team; he was selected 1st Team All-Big Ten as a Senior and 2nd Team All-Big Ten as a junior. He appeared in the Blue-Gray Game and finished his college career in 2nd place in total tackles and 1st place in solo tackles; he led the Boilermakers in tackles for 3 seasons. He was drafted in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft.
Strickland went on to a 12 season career in the NFL; averaging 3.6 tackles per game. Strickland appeared in 161 games in five seasons for the Los Angeles Rams, three seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, two with the Green Bay Packers, one with the Minnesota Vikings and one season with the Washington Redskins.
Over his NFL career, he totaled 580 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 11 fumble recoveries. [More at Wikipedia]
