Mark Hughes is a retired American basketball player and current coach. He has played collegiately for University of Michigan and was a co-captain of the 1989 NCAA Championship team. On the professional level, he played for the Detroit Pistons and was under contract with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He has played professionally in France and Italy. He was the head coach of the Grand Rapids Hoops of the CBA from 1997 to 2002, the team he has also played for from 1995 to 1998. He worked as an assistant coach in the NBA for the Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings. During the 2007-08 season, Hughes worked as a scout for the New York Knicks.
