Description
Leon Stickle is a retired National Hockey League linesman. His career started in 1969 and ended in 1998. During his career, he officiated six Stanley Cup finals, 2,069 regular season games, 206 playoff games, two Canada Cups, and four All-Star games, including the 1979 Challenge Cup and Rendez-vous '87. He may be best known for missing an offside call which led to the NY Islanders first Stanley Cup in 1980 against the Philadelphia Flyers. He later admitted to missing the call. From the 1994-95 season until his retirement, he wore uniform number 33.
