Description
Gerhard Hennige is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner, among the world's best at the 400 meter hurdles from 1966 to 1971.
At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he won two medals for West Germany. One was silver in his specialty, in a time of 49.0 seconds. He also ran the second leg on the bronze winning 4 x 400 metres relay team.
Hennige was also part of the 4x400 team that came in third at the European Championship in 1971, running the third leg and teamed with Horst-R�diger Schl�ske, Ingo R�per and Jellinghaus.
In the 1990s, he served as the conditioning coach for Formula One racer Michael Schumacher. After receiving an advanced degree in 2004, Hennige has been a lecturer in Sports Science at the Darmstadt University of Technology.
