Tao Porchon-Lynch is a French-Indian yogi, dancer, oenophilist, former model, and former actress. Born in India, she was attracted to yoga at a young age. Before entering the yoga industry, she worked as a model; when World War II struck, she relocated to the United Kingdom and became a dancer. After moving to the United States she became an actor, and in 1967 she became a yoga instructor. Porchon-Lynch also founded the American Wine Society with her husband. She frequently judged at wine competitions throughout the United States and was the editor and publisher of a wine magazine for a period of time. She has continued to advocate and teach yoga actively. In May 2012, Guinness World Records recognised Porchon-Lynch as the world's oldest yoga instructor at age 93; the previous record-holder was then-91-year-old Berniece Bates of Florida. In 2013, she released a DVD on yoga as well as a book about meditation.
