Amplify Dot, also known as A.Dot or Dotty, is a 26 year old female rapper from South London, UK. At the age of 13 years old, Amplify Dot found herself performing a freestyle on the stage at Brixton Academy at a Missy Elliott concert. After Missy heard her rap, she told her ?One day, you?re going to be big?. A.Dot cites this as one of the definitive moments that led her to pursuing a career as a professional artist.
Amplify Dot cites some of her musical influences as Salt N Pepa, Lauryn Hill, The Fugees, Eminem, Jay-Z, Gregory Issacs, Freddie McGregor, Barrington Levy, Jimi Hendrix and The Carpenters.
Amplify Dot gained considerable notoriety on the UK underground Grime and Hip Hop scenes, being introduced to many after being featured on the Grime track Game Over Female Takeover, self releasing several mixtapes including Short Back & Sides and Born Ready which charted independently on the iTunes Hip Hop Charts. A.Dot also launched her own clothing label Quiff Head in conjunction with leading London street wear brand House of Hoxshore.
In 2012, Amplify Dot signed a recording contract with Virgin Records and a publishing deal with Sony ATV.
