Ian studied at Stanford University, where he received the Golden Medal for writing. His production of Night Baseball was honored at the National College Theater Festival, and Stanford University Press published his thesis on Samuel Beckett. McCrudden has directed the films Cowboys & Indians, The Things We Carry, �ntligen midsommar, Islander, the documentary Anita O' Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer, Trespassers, The Big Day, Mr. Smith Gets a Hustler, and Trailer?The Movie. He also directs plays including the acclaimed "Patriotic Bitch" Off-Broadway in NYC. Ian has contributed songs for many of his films and his debut album Start Over was released in March 2007.
The Life of a Jazz Singer was nominated for Best Long Form Music Video at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
