Description
Morton Dean is an American television news journalist who has worked for CBS News and ABC News since the mid-1960s.
Dean is currently a Partner at corporate and executive communications firm of M.E. Communications Partners. He also writes on a freelance basis and lectures to diverse audiences. Dean, a graduate of Emerson College, worked as a local radio and television reporter for stations in Massachusetts and New York state before joining CBS in 1967. There, he specialized in coverage of the U.S. space program, national politics and the Vietnam War. During much of his tenure at CBS, Dean anchored weekend editions of CBS Evening News, as well as the weekday afternoon and evening editions of the 90-second Newsbreak updates. He left CBS in 1985 for Tribune Broadcasting, where he anchored the nationally syndicated Independent Network News as well as newscasts on Tribune's flagship station WPIX. Dean joined ABC in 1988 and for several years, he anchored the newscasts on the network's Good Morning America. Dean also traveled extensively covering breaking stories around the world.
