Sofia Shapatava is a Georgian professional tennis player. Her career high ranking is no. 186 in singles and no. 160 in doubles. As of 28 July 2014, her current ranking is 190 in singles and 176 in doubles. Her favourite surface is hard. In May 2014, Shapatava played in qualifying for the 2014 French Open, after narrowly making it into the draw thanks to withdrawals and wildcards into the main draw for several players. She won all three of her matches to qualify for the first grand slam of her career, facing Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round and losing in straight sets.
