Description
Gustaf Skarsgrd was born into a European acting dynasty. His father was famous Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgrd, his godfather was Hollywood actor Peter Stormare and three of his five siblings -- including his older brother Alexander, best known for his role in "True Blood" -- were also thespians. After making his film debut in a small role in a movie starring his father in 1989, Gustaf graduated to more significant parts on Swedish TV as soon as he entered his teens. By 2002, his talent had matured sufficiently to be cast in the lead role in the successful Swedish supernatural drama "The Invisible," which was later subject to a Hollywood remake. This was the beginning of a slew of major roles for Gustaf in Swedish movies, including the Oscar-nominated drama "Evil" (2003), before he made his Hollywood debut in 2010 with a role in Peter Weir's "The Way Back" before going on to star in The History Channel's popular series "Vikings" in 2013. Rather than court the international stardom that his family members have achieved, Gustaf has preferred to work primarily in the land of his birth even as his worldwide profile has risen.
