Bernard L. "Bernie" Krause, founder of Wild Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to the recording and archiving of natural soundscapes, is an American musician, author, soundscape recordist and bio-acoustician, who coined the term biophony and helped define the structure of soundscape ecology. Krause holds a Ph.D. with an internship in bioacoustics from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati.
