Description
Kyle Alcorn is an American track and field athlete. As a long distance runner he has been most successful in the steeplechase. On June 28, 2012 he qualified for the 2012 Olympics by finishing third in the 2012 United States Olympic Trials and surpassing the Olympic A standard.
Alcorn ran for Buchanan High School in Clovis, California. As a junior he won the 3200 meters at the CIF California State Meet. As a senior his time improved seven seconds but he was edged by Tim Nelson, whom he had beaten the year before. He also played Water Polo.
Alcorn then went to the University of Oregon where he helped the Cross Country team win the PAC-10 championship. In 2004 he was the USA Junior Champion in the steeplechase before finishing 16th at the 2004 World Junior Championships in Athletics.
For his last two years in college he ran for Arizona State University, winning the 2008 NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the steeplechase. He was also the 2008 NCAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Champion for the 3000 meters. He qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials but finished 11th. [More at Wikipedia]
