Description
Nigel Anthony is a theatre, television, and radio actor. He is also an accomplished drummer with a wide knowledge of jazz.
He comes from a theatrical background; his mother was a dancer at the London Palladium as well as a regular in many classic TV series of the 1970s and 80s. His paternal grandfather was a member of Fred Karno's troupe of comedians alongside Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel.
His theatre work includes The Taming of the Shrew, Happy End, Twelfth Night and Dutch Uncle for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Television appearances include Ted Roach in Casualty The Diary of Anne Frank, Coronation Street, Midsomer Murders and Doctors.
Anthony has narrated many TV documentaries including Secret Lives and Secret History. His voice is one of the most well known in the UK, largely due to many years as the voice of Tesco and Orange and numerous other advertisement campaigns.
Anthony is the winner of both a Sony award and a Radio Times award for his radio performances. Recent radio projects include the much praised "Life and Fate" for BBC Radio 4 with Kenneth Branagh and Harold Pinter's version of "The Heat Of The Day" with Anna Chancellor.
