Description
Stevie Davies is an award-winning Welsh novelist. Born in Morriston in Swansea, she is a lecturer at the Swansea University, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
She was longlisted for the 2001 Booker Prize for her novel, The Element of Water, which went on to win the 2002 Arts Council of Wales Book of the Year award. Her first novel, Boy Blue, had won the Fawcett Society Book Prize in 1987, and her work has also been shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction.
She wrote a biography of the poet Henry Vaughan.
Leaving Wales at the age of two, Davies has been described as having spent a nomadic childhood in Egypt in the 1950s. An only child, her father was an officer in the RAF. She has three grown children, a son and two daughters. [More at Wikipedia]
