Description
Dermot Whelan is an Irish comedian and radio presenter on Today FM.
A native of Limerick, Whelan is a regular contributor on RT�'s The Panel, he is also the former host of Republic of Telly and has performed at major comedy festivals, including the Kilkenny Cat's Laugh Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Whelan was a co-host of the 98FM Morning Crew radio show in Dublin, alongside Cheesey Dave and Siobhan O'Connor. Now himself and Dave are part of the afternoon line-up and are co-creators of the comedy characters, The Toll Trolls. Whelan also worked for Dublin City FM in his early career.
Other television credits include The Soccer Show on TV3 and appearances on The Property Game on the same station. He also previously presented the Republic of Telly on RT� Two.
He currently holds the Guinness World Record of 03.14 seconds for keeping a Malteser suspended in the air by blowing and has also played the role of a taste bud in a biscuit ad. Whelan is a regular attendee and executive patron of the North Dublin Sumo Society.
