Description
Paul Popplewell was born in 1977. He became a professional actor at 16, leaving college after gaining the lead role of Simon in the multi award winning BBC Television Drama ?Criminal?, for which he won Best Actor at the Golden Chest Film Festival and was nominated for Best Actor at The Royal Television Society Awards alongside Pete Postlethwaite and Tom Wilkinson.
At the age of 20 he was playing a leading role with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their production of ?Bad Weather?. Since then he has continued to work in film, television, theatre and radio.
In 2001, Paul played Happy Mondays bassist and founder member Paul Ryder in the Michael Winterbottom film 24 Hour Party People, having been a fan of the band since he was a kid. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2002.
He made an appearance in the music video for Oasis's 2005 single 'Lyla'.
He played the character of Bod in feature film Tyrannosaur, written and directed by Paddy Considine, which was released in the U.K on 7 October 2011 and in the U.S on 18 November 2011. Tyrannosaur premi�red at the Sundance Film Festival, where it picked up three awards.
