Description
John F. Simon Jr., is a new media artist who works with LCD screens and computer programming. He currently lives and works in New York.
Simon holds several degrees: a BA in Art Studio and a BS in Geology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, a Master?s degree in Earth and Planetary Science from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a MFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is the recipient of the Trustees? Award for an Emerging Artist from the The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut in 2000, and the Creative Capital New Media Grant in 1999.
Simon has exhibited internationally, including New York, Santa Fe, Berlin and Haifa. His work is found in prominent museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, University of Iowa Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California. Simon's first European solo exhibition, Color and Time, was held September 17 - October 24, 2008 at Galer�a Javier L�pez in Madrid, Spain.
