Brad Gerlach is an American professional surfer. He first qualified as a seed for the ASP World Tour in 1986. In 1991, Gerlach got very close to winning a World Title,winning in Australia's Coke Classic and Durban's Gunston 500, but faltered at the end and finished runner up to Damien Hardman.At age 25, Brad retired from the ASP. In recent years, Brad Gerlach has been at the forefront of tow-surfing. In 2001, he was among the first crew to surfer Cortez Bank, a reef that breaks in twenty feet of water 100 miles off the California coast. On that first session, Gerlach towed partner Mike Parson into a wave measured at 61 feet that won Parsons the Billabong XXL first prize for that year. Five years later, Mike Parson towed Brad Gerlach into a wave at Todos Santos, measured at 68 feet, which earned him the XXL award for 2006.
